Sometimes, attending a group fitness class for the first time is scary—especially when you have no idea what to expect! Trust me, I’ve been to many…and I’ve taught a ton of them. Today, I’ll give you a guide for what to expect when taking a group class at Naples Personal Training.

Before you arrive, you should

It’s important to stay hydrated, before, during and after your workout. Dehydration can happen to anyone, and drinking more water can help increase your metabolism. It’s a win-win.

Everyone is different, but I know that if I don’t have a small snack at least 45 minutes before a workout then I know I’m not going to be able to work at my full potential. A banana is my go-to option because it’s filled with carbs for energy and potassium to promote muscle health. Avoid heavy, fatty or greasy foods!

When you arrive, you should

Our sign in sheet will be located on the desk. Please print your name and email address clearly then sign your name on the appropriate line.

During signing in you can pay the instructor. We accept cash, check, debit or credit cards. Don’t want the hassle of bringing money each class? Ask about our group fitness packages.

Introduce yourself!

At our studio we want to know everyone’s name and face. Introduce yourself to the instructor and tell him or her why you decided to come to class. Then, introduce yourself to the other participants.

Grab a towel located at front of studio. If you forget to do it before the workout starts, you can grab a towel at any time.

Make sure you have water on hand. If you need water we have a reverse osmosis water filter located towards the back of studio along the right side. We have cups and markers so you can keep track of your cup.

During workout you should-

Ask for help

the instructors are professional and friendly and if you don’t know what a certain term means, or confused on how to use a piece of equipment make sure to ask for help!  We are here to help you reach your goals.

Don’t sweat it

It doesn’t matter if you’re a beginner or a fitness buff, anytime you choose to try a new fitness class you’ll get confused and frustrated at some point–it’s just part of the process. Do your best and have fun.

Know that there are alternatives for each exercise-

Let the instructor know if you have any health conditions or injuries before the class starts. Nothing is worse for you (or your health) than trying to do an exercise even though it’s hurting you. They are always happy to provide you with alternative exercises that are just as challenging. All you have to do is ask.

Have Fun!

Our classes are designed to be an efficient and effective fun workout. Encourage other participants, work hard, have fun—and see the results!

After class, you should-

Throw your towel in the black hamper near the front desk.

Let the Instructor know what you thought about the class.
We value feedback from participants. It helps us stay on top of our game and improve.

Don’t stop now!
